FC Barcelona is reportedly close to renewing Jules Koundé‘s contract, which currently expires in June 2027. A preliminary or verbal agreement has been reached between the club and the French right-back, indicating no obstacles to the deal.
Despite the agreement, Koundé’s contract renewal will not be finalized immediately this summer. Barcelona has other pressing priorities, such as registering new signing Joan Garcia and activating the €62 million release clause for target Nico Williams and his subsequent registration.

To achieve these priorities, Barcelona needs to free up salary space, potentially by players departing who are not in manager Hansi Flick’s plans. Therefore, Koundé’s renewal is not a priority task for the moment.

Koundé, who joined Barcelona from Sevilla in 2022, has been a consistent starter, participating in 54 matches in the 2024/2025 season, scoring 4 goals and providing 8 assists. Both Koundé and Barcelona are committed to continuing together, and the intention is to finalize his renewal after the summer transfer window closes.
